Abstract

In this project we explore the integration of graphene and other two-dimensional materials with integrated photonics for nonlinear optical devices, participating in scientific collaborations with other groups. The nonlinearities to study are saturable absorption and wave mixing, and the student will use the pump and probe technique to characterize the nonlinearity of the materials. In the theoretical part, the student will develop computer simulations to investigate the application to nonlinear optical devices, such as ultra-fast fiber lasers and optical amplifiers. Within the collaborations, the student should perform a one year stays in a group abroad. (AU)
