With the present study, the objective is to evaluate the production of collagen during the healing process of experimentally induced wounds in horses, treated or not with bacterial cellulose gel 1%. Four horses will be used, which will undergo surgical procedures for obtaining surgical wounds in these regions. In each animal will be made two wounds in the lumbar region, spaced 10 cm from one another. All wounds will be treated with 0.9% saline solution. Continuous act, the caudal wounds will receive the bacterial cellulose hydrogel 1%. Randomly, three animals will have the wounds on the left side and three on the right antimere. Samples will be picked from the edges of wounds at 3, 7, 14 and 21 days postoperatively for subsequent staining with Picrosirius Red for type I and III collagen analysis at each stage of healing.
