Fluorapatite is a mineral of the apatite group with the following chemical formulation Ca5 (PO4) 3F. Although the pure mineral is colorless or white, it may have several colors depending on the impurity that is present. In this work, the objective is to investigate the effects of beta-ionizing radiation on samples of pure fluorapatites from the national territory using the Thermoluminescence (TL) technique. The work will analyze the shape of the TL curve according to the dose of radiation, thus contributing with knowledge of this material in the area of dosimetry. It is intended to investigate the kinetic behavior of TL peaks by methods such as variable heating rate, curve fitting, Tm-Tstop and Tm-dose analysis using Glow Fit program; obtaining data such as energy and frequency factor. The chemical composition of the samples will be obtained by the technique of X-ray fluorescence and the electronic transitions will be verified by optical absorption in the visible region. The research will be conducted in collaboration with the University of São Paulo.
