Abstract

This work consists in studying different compounds using the complementarity of the techniques of resonant magnetic x-ray diffraction, elastic and inelastic neutron scattering, and Raman spectroscopy. From the neutron scattering measurements, we intend to determine the magnetic structure as well as the nature of the transitions that the intermetallic compounds DyNiSi3 and HoNiSi3 present. Besides, we aim to determine the crystal field excitation diagrams of these compounds. With the technique of resonant magnetic x-ray diffraction, we aim to verify the possible existence of a spin-flop transition in the compound GdRhIn5 and the existence of satellite magnetic peaks from magnetic polarons in EuB6, since neutron diffraction is not recommended in these cases. Still with this technique, we intend to investigate in detail the behavior of the Re magnetic moments in Ca2MnReO6. Finally, by using Raman scattering, we intend to observe a strong coupling between phonons and possible orbital excitations in the compounds NiSb2O6 and CoSb2O6. (AU)
