Dialogue between Carolina Maria de Jesus with Afro-Colombian literature

Abstract

The book Quarto de despejo: diário de uma favelada (published in English as Child of the Dark: the diary of Carolina Maria de Jesus) was written by Carolina Maria de Jesus, in the 1950s, from her experience in Canindé - peripheral zone of the city of São Paulo. This work brings the daily narrative in the slum. O Diário de Bitita (in English, Bitita-s Diary) refers to her childhood and youth in Sacramento, Minas Gerais. The work¡Negras somos! ¡Negras somos! Antología de 21 poetas afrocolombianas de la región Pacífica brings the narrative of black women in Colombian reality.The research project has as general objective to analyze the recognition of the narrative of Quarto de despejo: diário de uma favela and Diário de Bitita as production of the African diaspora from the applicability of the notion of space in the work ¡Negras somos! The reading of the work of Carolina Maria de Jesus evidences the construction of the notion of space through race. The contribution of the African diaspora will be used as analytical tool in order to understand Carolina's literary production.The above mentioned works will be understood here as denunciation. The authors from their social place - woman and black - denounces the constant violation of rights that they are submitted. The theoretical framework of the research will be the decolonial studies. We prioritized this epistemological perspective because it gives centrality to the knowledge developed by subaltern citizen ships. (AU)
