Associated to the scholarship:18/17018-3 - Development of the Jesness inventory: Brazilian revised reduced and its psychometric properties, BP.MS

The Jesness Inventory - Revised is an important forensic psychological assessment tool for juvenile offenders. It is frequently used in the United States and Canada and also studied in Brazil, Chile and Spain. In these countries, there is evidence of satisfactory psychometric properties and clinical utility. Likewise, there is also evidence that the tool can be improved. For this, it is proposed to reduce the number of items from its original version, which has 160 items. In Brazil, the reduction process has already begun. The objective of this process is to investigate the adequacy of the short form proposed with Brazilian data to the Spanish context, making use of GEAV database (University of Barcelona). The specific objectives are to analyze the reliability of the short form scales, criterion validity evidence (with personality tool) and correlation evidences between the scales' escores of the IJ-R original version and its reduced version scales. The data come from a sample of 191 male adolescents (128 are students and 63 are in the juvenile justice system). The reliability of the scales will be investigated with estimates obtained through the Item Characteristic Curve of the Item Response Theory. Criterion validity and correlation between scores will be calculated with Spearman rho correlation analysis. (AU)
