Associated to the scholarship:18/00645-5 - The limits and possibilities of political action in mass society, BP.DR

The aim of this project is to investigate the limits and possibilities of political action innon-totalitarian mass society based on Hannah Arendt's analysis of civil disobedience in Crisis of the Republic (1969). For such purpose, we are going to address Jean Cohen and Andrew Arato's criticism to Arendt's analysis of social movements in their work Civil Society and Political Theory (1995), since this criticism puts into question Arendt's hope of reviving the public freedom experience.
