Abstract

Perinatal mortality, including fetal and early neonatal deaths, represents an increasing and important component of childhood mortality, but is still insufficiently known, especially in its fetal component, which is one of the most neglected problems in today's global health. Perinatal mortality is an indicator of adequacy of obstetric care during prenatal, birth and newborn periods. Objective: analyses the evolution and characteristics of perinatal deaths in the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo and in its 39 municipalities, from 2008 to 2017. Materials and Methods: microdata from the Information about Mortality Information System (SIM) and the Live Birth Information System (SINASC) will be used, from 2008 to 2017, available by Datasus. An assessment of the variables completeness will be performed. Data analysis will be done using the distribution of deaths according to variables of interest. For the analysis of trend and magnitude, will be calculated the perinatal mortality rate.
