This study is part of the Memories Project, developed within the framework of the activities of the PCLA (Latin American Communications Thinking) research group, which aims to critically inventory the media knowledge produced in the Center-West region of São Paulo. In this stage, the challenge is to establish the relationship between memory and journalism, through issues involving gender, violence and media agenda, studying violence against women based on the journalistic coverage of Jornal da Cidade (JC), Bauru, located in the region of Center-West Paulista. Through the bibliographical and documentary revision, we will try to describe the history of the vehicle and its importance for the region. For the analysis of the coverage of the JC on the theme of violence against women, an exploratory study has been carried out in the archives of the publication, aiming to delimit the period of the research and the categories that will be defined for the content analysis procedure. From the results obtained in the systematization of the data, Transmetodologia will be used as a qualitative diagnostic layer. The initial results of the empirical work already allow us to point out that texts (articles, editorial, reportage, etc.), photos, and other images present in the publication will be used in the period to be analyzed. The final result should point out how the Jornal da Cidade constructs its narrative in cases of violence against women, making it possible to understand how the victim and the aggressor are portrayed in the local press. Similarly, it will be possible to map, in the Bauru region, the concentration spaces of these cases and the type of violence, since no systematic survey of this information has been found so far.
