The transformations in the mode of integral care of long stay: long-term care institutions for the elderly

Abstract

The phenomenon of population aging is a fact, and with the increase in the number of elderly people each year, the care offered is facing important transformations, both for the spaces and for the people who provide care. The quality and integral care provided is guaranteed by law, primarily by the National Policy of the Elderly and the Statute of the Elderly; as well as the family, society and state have an obligation to support the elderly and their needs. The guarantee of quality care includes the supervision of those who offer, among them the long-term care institutions for the elderly, which are supervised by the Public Prosecutor's Office, the Elderly Council, Sanitary Supervision and others provided by law; identifying the formalization of the type of economic activity rendered and the target public, in relation to the activity offered in the day to day and for whom they offer. Objective: To characterize the Long-Term Care Institutions for the Elderly of the municipalities of São Carlos and Araraquara, based on the registers of registrations effected in the Municipal Council of the Elderly, and the Elderly Public Prosecutor's Office; and compare with the records of the National Classification of Economic Activities-CNAE. Methodology: This is a qualitative-quantitative research, of a descriptive, retrospective, and thematic content analysis. This study is part of a research that involves the database of the research group Law, City and Aging. The collection will take place in the Department of Gerontology at UFSCar, in the first half of 2019, and will initially be identified by the database characteristics of the ILPI. Identifying the Long-term Care of the elderly of the two municipalities, and the characterization data of each once (type, target audience, main and secondary activity) will be compared with the registration with the CNAE, in order to characterize the typology of each one. Expected results: The general characterization of the Long-term Care Institution of Araraquara and São Carlos is expected, with emphasis on their typology, main and secondary activity, as well as general data on the profile of the population served (available vacancies, filled vacancies, and gender). Also, it is intended to compare the classifications adopted with the analyzed records and verify compatibility or not between them.
