Abstract

The intensification of crop production system has affected the population dynamics of insect pests, since this scenario is great for its development. It has resulted in the increase of insecticide use and, consequently, to the evolution of pest resistance. This situation is seen in the Cerrado region, where maize, soybean and cotton are cultivated all year long, with a possible succession and overlapping of these crops. One of the most economic important pest of this production system is Spodoptera frugiperda (J.E. Smith). The resistance management strategies are more efficient when implemented in a regional scope, considering the agricultural landscape where pests are found. Thus, this project proposal aims to provide informations about how the agricultural landscape composed by plants of maize, soybean and cotton can affect the resistance evolution of S. frugiperda to insecticides, evaluating the biological and behavioral parameters as well as the protein and metabolic profile of spinosyn resistant individuals when fed on these host plants. It is still intended to identify enzymatic markers through proteomics and metabolomics analysis, and compare it to the markers obtained through other molecular approaches e.g. genomic and transcriptomic, in order to investigate the molecular targets that are under selection pressure at different molecular levels.
