This project aims to study the localized corrosion of Al-Cu-Li alloys with high mechanical resistance, aeronautical grade, joined by FSW by means of micro-electrochemical techniques with high spatial resolution, such as the Scanning Electrochemical Microscopy (SECM) in different operation modes and by using ion-selective microelectrodes (ISME). This will allow identifying localized attacks and the formation of galvanic coupling, and studying the effects of microstructural changes resulting from friction stir welding process (FSW) on the corrosion susceptibility of the different zones affected by welding.
