Abstract

Numerical relativity simulations which describe the evolution and emission of gravitational waves of black hole binary systems where crucial to the development of the templates used by the LIGO collaboration to validate the first detections of gravitational waves. In this proposal we aim to explore these simulations results, in order to search for extra informations which could enhance our physical knowledge of the theory and guide for future data analysis. The student will work with existing results available in open repositories, and run new simulations in order to explore promising regions of the parameter space specified in the initial analyses.
