Abstract

This project aims to initiate the adaptation of the affection apprehension instrument developed by Bomfim (2010) for urban scales, so that it can be used in the study of buildings. This instrument will be constituted by affective maps and interviews that express the feelings related to place attachment and place identity towards buildings. Pre-tests will be carried out with 20 participants in each of three categories of buildings (private place, public place for passing, and public place for staying); necessary adjustments to the instrument; and a final application with 30 participants in a building to be chosen based on the pre-test results. The analysis of the results will follow, in general terms, the analyzes already proposed by Bomfim (recurrent categories present in the drawings and in the interviews), with the necessary adaptations. The importance of the research is due to the possibility to better understand the affective and cognitive relation that the users exhibit for certain buildings and to allow interpretations and analyzes that can suggest parameters for future architectural projects.
