The post-doctoral grant is requested for a research internship with the Laboratory of the Canada Research Chair in legal Traditions and criminal rationality, Faculty of Social Sciences - University of Ottawa, and collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Centre for research on citizenship and minorities - CIRCEM, for 10 months, from September 16, 2019, to perform i) Bibliographic research on racial filtration and inequalities in policing and criminal justice in North America, II) bibliographic research and exchange of data on preventive justice and modern penal rationality in North America, III) exchange of research with the Profile Observatory, of which Circem is a partner, regarding to the construction of categories of interpretation; IV) interviews with researchers who study the themes of racial inequality and profiling in policing at Ottawa and Montreal, V) interviews with social activists who construct the criticism of inequalities, especially racial profiling, in policing and criminal justice in Canada, VI) collect of information and official papers on policies to confront institutional racism in Canadian police and criminal justice, regarding the reception of the issue by the police organization, VII) analysis of quantitative data and interviews already collected (with partially completed work in São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Rio Grande do Sul and Distrito Federal) in a comparative perspective.
