Noise induced hearing loss is characterized by sensorineural hearing loss, which have the main aspect irreversibility and gradual progression of hearing loss with the time of exposure to the risk, usually reaching the two ears of symmetric form. It can affect professionals from different industrial sectors and musicians. The specific hearing protector devices for musicians has a uniform attenuation, so as not to further attenuate the high frequencies in relation to the medium and low frequencies. In order to not compromised your carreer, professional musicians must ensure the integrity of their hearing. Objectives: To evaluate the speech intelligibility with the use of the specific hearing protection device (HPD) for musicians, comparing it with the conventional HPD, as well as to verify the satisfaction with the use of both types of HPD. Method: Twenty professional musicians, both genders, with ages between 18 and 40 years, pwill be invit to participate of study. They will be submitted to conventional and high frequencies audiometry. Afterwards, the REAT method will be performed with and without HPD. Then, will be performed the assessment of speech intelligibility, using Percentage of Sentence Recognition Index and the characterization about user satisfaction with each HPD. The data will be tabulated and a descriptive and inferential analysis will be done.
