This research project focuses on the production and circulation of indigenous media, mainly audiovisuals, developed by indigenous from the Karib linguistic trunk located in the Upper Xingu region, (Mato Grosso - Brasil), which includes Kalapalo, Kuikuro, Matipu and Nahukuá peoples. The research is based on field studies carried out during audiovisual production workshops held in the village of Kalapalo Aiha in 2015 and in 2017, which resulted in a series of audiovisual works carried out jointly, approaching the shared production of knowledge category. Considering the notion of "openness to the other", we assume that the incorporation of exogenous elements is a current practice in the region, but that it must be reconsidered when what is incorporated is non-indigenous. In general it is possible to verify that the audiovisual works in contrast to the native notion of tisügühütu ongitelü, (in Karib Kalaplo, "loss of culture"). However, new categories should be considered when considering the proliferation of technical devices, such as the use of mobile phones, which has been driving transformations and greatly increasing the production and circulation of audiovisual elements in this region.
