Abstract

Scientific communication makes scientific information accessible through an appropriate language to the target audience, as a result, the effective communication with people at different levels of training or even different culture promote the appropriation and benefits from the scientific information transmitted. Thus, communicating science to the general public has been increasingly a challenge and an urgent and frequent demand from both institutions and research centers, as well as funding and government agencies. The Ouroboros Nucleus for Scientific Communication was created in 2009, physically allocated to the Chemistry Department of the Federal University of São Carlos, encompassing the Ouroboros Theater Group (2004) and various initiatives involving science, art and inclusion. Since then, with its formative characteristics, creative workshops and theatrical presentations, the nucleus has contributed to the training of hundreds of students from different degrees since basic education, under graduation to post graduation in all regions of the country. In 2014, a partnership was started between Ouroboros and the Center for Research, Technology and Education in Vitreous Materials (CeRTEV-FAPESP) and several initiatives are being developed to assist in the scientific communication of glass research. Different formats and media such as theater, music, drawing, videos and narratives transmitted by the radio are being developed over the years to reach the target audience, among them children or young adults, with different degrees. Particularly, to evaluate this creation methodology that unites scientific communication and scientific journalism was a demand that arose after the creation of Vitreous Minute programs broadcast by Radio UFSCar. The purpose of this project is to develop, with the assistance of Radio UFSCar, Social Communication Coordination and CERTEV, these 1-2 minutes programs about research and curiosities of glass and glass ceramics materials and the sciences involved, as well as to evaluate the outreach and the public target over previous seasons and the annual season, analyzing the scientific communication and journalism interface.
