Abstract

Objective: to analyze and to correlate the immediate effects of voiced high-frequency oscillation (VHFO) in acoustic measures and voice quality in healthy and dysphonic individuals. Methodology: 30 healthy and 30 dysphonic individuals of both gender aged between 18 to 45 years old will participate of this study. A voice database (vowel /a/ and counting) will be used to perform acoustic analysis (Cepstral Peak Prominence Smoothed, alpha ratio, and difference L1-L0) and perceptual analysis (general grade of voice, roughness, and breathness voice) using the analogic visual scale, by means of the vowel /a/ recording and number counting one to ten. The data will be analyzed statistically by parametric or non-parametric tests, in order to compare it before and after the application of the VHFO technique and correlate the acoustic parameters with the perceptual analysis.
