Six adult horses with chronic lameness (Grade e 2 - American Association of Equine Practitioners - AAEP, modified from Obel, 1948) from the Center for Equine Health - CEH, School of Veterinary Medicine, University of California, Davis -CA, United States. Horses that present inappetence or loss of body weight e 10% of the value recorded at baseline, or who develop a body condition score below 3/9 (Henneke et al., 1983); or who present Obel lameness score = 5, will be withdrawn from the study and the most appropriate analgesic therapy will be instituted. After the instrumentation, the horses will be submitted to evaluations of pain (VAS and Pain Composite Scale - Bussiéres et al., 2008) and lameness (AAEP/Obel, 1948), biomechanical analyzes in force plate, pedometer and kinematics before administration of the treatments under random, crossed and blinded design to the evaluators, at minimum washout of seven days: NC - negative control (lipid emulsion, Intralipid ® 20%, 250 mL - IV), PC - positive control morphine - dose: 0.1 mg / kg, diluted in Intralipid ® 20%, 250 mL - IV) and CT - test treatment ("Compound T" dose: 14.57 mg / kg, diluted in Intralipid ® 20% 250 mL - IV). Expiration air samples will be taken for determination of expired concentrations of "Compound T" by gas chromatography, with these values being used for calculating blood concentrations. All variables will be measured and samples of expired air taken 1, 3, 6 and 24 hours after administration of the treatments. Variables that present results with normal distribution will be analyzed by Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) two way for repeated measures (treatment and time). Treatment responses along time will be analyzed by Dunnett's test, with corrections for non-spherical data (P < 0.05).
