Since the first publication by Marx-Engels Institute (in Moscow) of the so called The German Ideology (1845-6), this work alongside with Economic-philosophic Manuscripts, became a cornerstone in the Marxist discussion and reception. Quickly one would turn mainly to the Feuerbach's chapter (which now it is known to be manipulated by the first editors) in order to survey the fundamental thesis of the historical materialism. Particularly one category was central in such reconstructions: the category of mode of production. My research project in Germany intends to reconstruct the main lines of such Marxist debate regarding mode of production in light of new information found in MEGA-2 I/5. This is part of a larger research project about conceptualization's difference of mode of production in The German Ideology and the Grundrisse (1857-8). My working hypothesis for this larger research projects states that Marx passes from a critical model of historical materialism (from 1845-6 onwards) to a critical model of critique of pollical economy (from 1857-8 onwards).
