This proposal for a research abroad is part of the doctoral project entitled "Textile artifacts: women and design in Brazil", which takes place at the doctoral program "Design" at The School of Architecture and Urbanism at the University of São Paulo (FAUUSP). The principal objective is to understand the presence and participation of women in Brazilian design. Anchored in this project, the proposal for a research abroad was developed at The School of Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences (EHESS-Paris), under the supervision of Mônica Raisa Schpun. This internship will have a duration of 11 months, taking place from September 2019 until July 2020. From this experience in France, we aim to deepen our theoretical and methodological knowledge on the history of gender as a research instrument and thinking. This perspective will develop our analysis of gender as an approach capable of highlighting gender relations and exploring the nuances of this encounter in works in the field of design. In addition, this period will be fundamental to study the trajectory of women who have participated in the history of Brazilian design in archives in Europe to build a more comprehensive and thorough research.
