Abstract

The development and utilization of renewable energy is an urgent need in the face of the global scenario of pollution and scarcity of fossil fuels. Solar cells (SC) have shown prominence as a source of renewable energy with great potential. Brazil is a country with great territorial extension that receives intense solar radiation all the year, therefore the development of this technology is of great importance in the national scope. Commercially available SC today are composed of inorganic materials, such as silicon, of a high purity, which implies high production costs. Therefore, it is necessary to study and develop alternative materials, easy to process and having low cost. Among these devices, the perovskite SC has presented promising results, having the potential to replace the solar cells present on the market today. Despite the potential already verified, some factors hinder the placement of these devices in the market. For example the high price, low crystallinity and instability under ambient conditions, of the main hole transporter, the spiro-OMeTAD. The use of carbon compounds stable at high temperatures, inert to oxygen and atmospheric humidity are highly potential alternatives. Among these are graphene with electrons or holes conducting characteristic as a function of doping and/or group anchoring to regulate their energy levels for the desired application. Blends of compounds with graphene and organic compounds anchored in reduced graphene oxide (proposed by the group of Professor Zaghete) have been showing interesting results to solve these problems. In this project the objective is to synthesize hole transporter materials consisting of quinoline derivatives with electron-donor groups anchored in reduced graphene oxide to replace spiro-OMeTAD in perovskite solar cells. The materials will be synthesized and characterized, as well as applied in solar cells of perovskite type.
