Abstract

The following study has the objective to raise theoretic and methodological knowledge concerning the gender identity subject through a scientific international exchange at the Universidad de Lima (Peru). The exchange program aims to bring a fresh new interpretation when it comes to the Semiotics and gender identity frameworks. These matters were previously mentioned in the main study, entitled Falas em torno da identidade de gênero: vivências e preconceitos (processo: 2018/10915-0) - in which students' experiences in this regard are being analyzed based on the Semiotics theory. The international exchange justifies itself due to the different ways in which the Latin American countries, in general, deal with the gender theme, this is also represented in the manners in how they develop their scientific researches around this concept. Peru, in particular, is a really fertile place to grow knowledge and research because of its political framing. Through the direct contact with Peruvian researchers, that have been creating remarkable reflections concerning to the gender identity theme, it is expected to better measure the theme in a Latin American context, adding experience and knowledge to the analysis process in the main project, thus, culminating in a much deeper result. The experience of doing research in another social, cultural and university context can guarantee valuable results not only for the national scene but also internationally, in the area of gender identity.
