In this project, we are going to design a micro-electro-mechanical sensor that would be used as an accelerometer. Modeling of this sensor includes modeling of a silicon wafer with anisotropic mechanical properties and manufacturing considerations. Then, the design would be optimized. The optimization process deals with increasing sensitivity and minimizing the size of the sensor while the manufacturing limitations are considered. Finally, the designed and optimized sensor would be manufactured using available equipment in the IPT lab for validation of this work. (AU)
