Abstract

The applications of remote sensing and associated technologies is one of the new frontiers of agriculture modernization with potentially great impacts on productivity, cost reduction, and the environment. More recently, the possibility of overflying with remotely controlled aircrafts, known as unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), with high flight accuracy has reduced costs and brought flexibility to the use of data acquired by remote sensors embarked on those aircrafts. The Agronomic Institute of Campinas (IAC) is selecting a postdoctoral fellow to carry out research on UAV-related technologies and applications. The qualified candidate will carry research at IAC in the Soils and Environmental Resources Center and in the Ecophysiology and Biophysics Center, and will be responsible for operating, treating and interpreting images and data generated by UAV together with researchers from the following fields: geotechnology, soil conservation, pedology, irrigation and plant production. The work plan of the postdoctoral researcher involves data and images application in agricultural areas such as environmental planning, digital soil mapping, erosion monitoring and modeling, and soil-plant-water relationships. Results of the present proposal should contribute to the state of art of data application and image generation by UAV-borne sensors for agriculture purposes in those areas. (AU)
