Abstract

The present research project is an outspread of an interest for questions brought by modernization, based on the logic of capitalistic development and the social processes that were built from the experimentation scenario, mainly in the architectural field, of 19th and 20th centuries, focused on one of the mechanisms of modernity - the modern interior - bringing the questions and cultural debates fired on this period to the Brazilian cultural and architectural scene after world war two. Through this work, we intend to understand the transformations in housing, promoted by Modern Architecture, analyzing how architects dialed with the interior question, from their speeches to their projects. In order to do so, we intend to study the writings and representations of the works of Affonso Eduardo Reidy, Lina Bo Bardi and Vilanova Artigas, investigating the ideals involved in the conception of the house idea and of the modern interior, through comparative study between two different typologies designed by them: the architect house and the popular house. With that we intend to stimulate a new approach to studies related to modern interior, still little addressed and little widespread in the Brazilian scientific circles.
