Abstract

Based on the perspective of thinking about the relationship between religion and the public sphere in contemporary Brazil, the analysis of this study focuses on how the activism of pentecostal protestant segments, marked by the occupation of urban space by the construction of temples and cathedrals and by the use of communication technologies, is constantly seeking public attention. The church project undertaken by the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God and its controversial way of producing public visibility for its proselytizing broadcast on radio and television and more recently on the internet is observed by taking the Temple of Solomon, inaugurated in 2014, as object of study. The analysis of this study, therefore, intends to investigate the way in which the IURD is produced discursively in relation to the Temple of Solomon from strategies of production of visibilities transmitted in the televising programs, materials divulged in electronic and printed medias, of videos published in the most internet media languages.
