Abstract

This grant is part of the Institutional Development Plan of IPT - PDIP, already approved by FAPESP, which intends to train the Center for Information Technology, Automation and Mobility - CIAM researchers with the specific objective: "the training in cyberphysical systems that allow to transpose the phenomena to a digital environment, deploying a platform to support intelligent solutions for cities and industry. "The training program through the research fellowship abroad - BPE will be held at UPC, based on the Department of Statistics and Operational Research - DEIO, under the guidance of Prof. Tomàs Aluja Banet. Research activities will be carried out on modeling and information processing techniques for applications in smart cities and industry 4.0. An important objective of the program will be to create digital representations of complex systems found in industrial and urban environments through simulation and optimization models, and generate action recommendations for control and optimization of operations in real systems. Digital models can also be used to test design alternatives for new systems, efficiently, quickly and inexpensively.Important part of the program will be held in the inLab FIB UPC, interacting with projects in the lines of research: 1) Modeling, simulation and optimization; 2) Intelligent Mobility; 3) Data Science and Big Data.Another point of interest in choosing UPC is its experience in training professionals to work in enterprises through postgraduate courses, especially the MA in Industry 4.0. The focus of the course is the use of simulation models applied to cyberphysical systems for industry 4.0 and Digital Twins. The simulation computational resources can be useful in teaching activities at IPT and in applications projects related with industry 4.0 to be developed by CIAM. Finally, participation in seminars, writing of academic articles, participation in research projects, and visits to projects of other research institutions are foreseen. (AU)
