Abstract

This proposal of post doctoral research comprises to develop a new methodology to design an active controller to generate aeroelastic gust alleviation including control surface asymmetric nonlinearities. In particular will be consider asymmetric freeplay and stiffness and the methodology will be based on the Fuzzy Takagi-Sugeno modeling which will be solved by Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs) to design a linear controller to act on the nonlinear system. The methodology will be firstly developed for the three degree of freedom typical section airfoil considering aerodynamic forces from Theoderson's theory. The mathematical model will be written in the state space representation using the Laguerre complex polynomials to write the aerodynamic forces in time domain. It will be used the Lyapunov's stability function and LMIs to solve a convex optimization problem. Time simulations with different discrete gust conditions will be carry out to compare the system with and without control forces.
