Abstract

The prostate cancer (PC) is one of the most important cancer in men worldwide. A therapeutic challenging is related to the presence of hormone-refractory tumors (HRPC). Dogs are the only mammal that develop PC with frequency and the cell of origin of canine PC still under debate. In addition, canine PC usually is androgen independent making these animals an interesting model for HRPC. Although different studies have been reported demonstrating the importance of dogs as a model in comparative oncology, the molecular alterations in canine cancers is poorly explored. In this internship, we aimed to evaluate the transcriptome of human and canine cancer cells to identify predictive markers. Our study also aim to evaluate the Lapatinib antitumor effect in human and canine prostate cancer cells. (AU)
