Abstract

The present proposal is part of a reflection on the production of the urban space, focusing on medium-sized cities in Bahia: Feira de Santana, Vitória da Conquista, Ilhéus and Itabuna, the latter two forming an urban agglomeration. In these, we have verified changes in urban everyday life due to social fractures and the production of physical barriers related to the lived plan, because we consider the hypothesis that from the 1990s, with the increase in the implementation of closed residential spaces, these types urban societies would be going through a deepening in the processes of socio-spatial differentiation and denser socio-spatial inequality leading to the process of socio-spatial fragmentation that can be read through the change of space practices. Thus, the production of housing in these urban types chosen, above all, by encouraging the way of life in closed residential spaces, would be accentuating the conflicts resulting from socio-spatial inequalities related to the logics of distribution, location and quality of housing and would alter the contents of the spatial practices of the subjects residing in these real estate products. To explain this hypothesis, we present, in the following sections, a single block in which we develop the research problem, weighed in a fundamental theoretical foundation, outlining the objectives of the investigation, followed by the methodological procedures for the action plan, expressed through a summary table, ending with work schedule. In view of the complexity of the process of urbanization and the intensification of socio-spatial inequalities, it is necessary to reflect on the elements that act against and through the processes that impede the right to urban life and the faces of the urbanization process in the contemporary period.
