Abstract

This doctorate research internship abroad (BEPE-DR) project is a part of the National Institute of Bioanalytical Science and Technology (INCTBio) and FAPESP doctorate project (Proc. 2016 / 20547-2). This project aims to study high throughput Thin-Film SPME (TF-SPME) devices for global metabolic profiling of biological samples. These systems will be used as model for targeted and untargeted metabolomics studies. TF-SPME devices will be prepared and characterized according to standard procedures found in literature. TF-SPME will be initially used to explore non-volatile metabolome of biological samples (untargeted and targeted) using LC-MS systems. After that, volatile metabolome from biological samples' systems will be evaluated using GCxGC-TOFMS platforms. All experiments will be done at the University of Waterloo, Canada, under supervision of Professor Janusz Pawliszyn.
