Reference herbaria of Gesnerioideae (Gesneriaceae): visit and collect of pollen and floral material

Abstract

We will carry out visit for observation of the specimens that compose the main clades of Gesnerioideae (Gesneriaceae) in the G (Conservatoire et Jardin Botaniques de La Ville de Genève, Switzerland) herbarium, in order to get pollen and floral material for the development of the FAPESP Doctoral Fellowship project in the country. Pollen and floral materials will be collected for pollen morphology analyzes and floral morphometric analyzes, in order to understand how the floral morphology varies and how they are associated with the pollinating syndromes among the tribes and genera studied. Such a proposal will consequently allow visit to Gesneriaceae reference center, giving access to the scientific environment, as well as contact with materials and techniques developed in these centers, besides the interaction with professionals in the area, for example curators and taxonomists, ensuring an important contribution in the tenderer's knowledge and experience.
