Public policies, gender and early child education: analysis of the Prêmio Construindo Igualdade de Gênero

Abstract

This research project focuses on analyzing the publications of the Primers Building Gender Equality Prize, identifying which are the themes addressed in relation to the field of Early Childhood Education. Through a documentary analysis, conducted by the method of content analysis, the limits and possibilities of the educational work with the gender issues are addressed, bringing subsidies for teacher training. This project seeks to problematize the needs of teachers on the subject, identifying the facilities and difficulties that professionals who work in the education of children have and how they think about gender issues. Considering that, in Brazil, there is scarce or almost nonexistent materials for the continuing education of teachers of Early Childhood Education, on the theme of gender, this research project intends to produce subsidies to support the training of teachers who work in the first stage of Basic Education, that is, in kindergartens and pre-schools. The view on teacher education in the field of children's education and gender points to challenges of the practical application of the principles of gender equality and citizenship that ensure the recognition of new values to masculinity and femininity, as pointed out by national and international public policies.
