Abstract

Bronchiectasis are characterized by pathological and irreversible dilatation of the bronchi, and the perpetuation of inflammatory processes induced by chronic or recurrent infections that result in inefficient removal of secretions and microorganisms. Patients may benefit from physiotherapy to remove secretions, as well as global exercises in a rehabilitation program. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of exercise on the transport of secretions, inflammation and resistance of the respiratory system, autonomic nervous system and its effects on the quality of life in patients with Bronchiectasis inserted into a pulmonary rehabilitation program. They will be included 30 healthy volunteers and 30 with Bronchiectasis, of both sexes, aged between 18-60 years. All will perform pulmonary function test; impulse oscillometry; analysis of the secretion properties; nasal transport time of saccharin; cytokine analysis of the collection of nasal lavage and blood by enzyme immunoassay; condensate of exhaled expiration; exhaled nitric oxide; analysis of heart rate variability, and quality of life questionnaires. Volunteers will be randomly allocated in the pulmonary rehabilitation or control groups. In addition to the benefits for patients already know in the literature, the additional benefit on the removal of secretions in hypersecretive patients can contribute to optimize the treatment e better control of the disease.
