Abstract

Sodium dichloroacetate (DCA) and omeprazole (OMP) are two drugs that have been highlighted in recent decades for having promising antineoplastic effects in the treatment of various types of cancers in humans and animals. In previous studies conducted in this laboratory, the treatment of canine oral melanoma cell lines with DCA and OMP not only showed tumor cell inhibitory effects, but when used in combination, presented a synergistic effect. The mechanism of action and subcellular events have not yet been well elucidated in the veterinary literature, and studies of the use of these two drugs in canine cell tumor cell lines are still quite scarce. This project aims to deepen the investigation of the effects of the treatment of 3 strainsmelanoma cells, being one of them human, and thus, to elucidate a little more the metabolic alterations that these two drugs present individually or in association on these cell lines.
