Abstract

The aim of this study is to avaliate the microbial load (CFU/mL), endotoxins (UE/mL) and lipoteichoic acid (LTA) levels of primary versus secondary endodontic infections. For this, thirty unirradicular patients' teeth are going to be selected, being fifteen with primary endodontic infection (GI) and fifteen with secondary endodontic infection (GII). All patients are going to have their teeth clinically evaluated and radiographed for pulp necrosis and/or previous endodontic treatment and periapical bone destruction verification. Root canal colletion contents are going to be performed after coronary opening (GI) and after material removal for retreatment cases (GII). The contents collected are going to be submitted to aerobic and anaerobic microbial load analysis (CFU/mL), endotoxin quantification (EU/mL) by Limulus Amebocyte Lysate test and LTA levels by ELISA. Data are going to be statiscally analyzed comparing primary (GI) x secondary (GII) endodontic infections (Gl).
