System and method in the Critique of Pure Reason

Abstract

The research proposed here consists of an interpretation of the Transcendental Dialectic of the Critique of Pure Reason, having as its guiding thread the notion of method developed in the Doctrine of Method, in the same work. For this, we must take into account the systematic configuration of the Critique, since the method of philosophy guides the construction of the system of pure reason, which, according to our hypothesis, would include the Critique as an immanent and structuring determination of the limits of reason. In this context, a problem seems to arise from what involves the notion of method and system of pure reason: the Critique would assume more than the role of a propaedeutic of the system of reason, gaining the status of internal theoretical definition of the limits of this system. It is therefore necessary to check in the Transcendental Dialectic, from the reconstruction of the method, if there is a unity of the Critique, so that it would be possible to find out not only a strictly negative sense, but also a positive sense. Our intention is to explore how this systematicity occurs in relation to the Transcendental Dialectic, especially its Appendix, whenever possible aided by the secondary bibliography that deals with the discussions involved. Thus, in the first part of our research we will read and analyze the Doctrine of Method, in order to determine the conception of method established by Kant. After that, in the second part of the research, we will be dealing with the consequences of the change from the special metaphysics to the Kantian Dialectic, fundamental in the development of the Critique in relation to the method of the system.
