Abstract

A postdoctoral position, complying nine months of duration, is immediately available in the laboratory of Prof. Helio C. Salgado, Department of Physiology, School of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto, Ribeirão Preto, SP, Brazil. This Post-doc position is associated with a comprehensive project titled NEW INSIGHTS IN CARDIOVASCULAR REGULATION UNDER PHYSIOLOGICAL AND PATHOPHYSIOLOGICAL CONDITION. Applicants must have a PhD degree. Writing and oral communication skills are central. It is noteworthy to mention that applicants must have expertise in surgical procedures for implantation of probes (DSI The PhysioTel PA series transmitter) and catheters in mice. Also, candidates should be capable of conducting cardiovascular variability analysis in time and frequency (spectral analysis) domains and also competence to work with nonlinear methods (sample entropy, multiscale entropy and DFA) for evaluation of cardiovascular variability. To ensure full consideration for the position, applicants should submit their application by September 24th, 2018. Interested candidates are encouraged to submit their Curriculum Vitae and three names or letters of references to hcsalgado@fmrp.usp.br - Dr Helio C. Salgado, M.D., Ph.D., Department of Physiology, School of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto, Av. Bandeirantes 3900, 14049-900, Ribeirão Preto, SP, Brazil. The selected applicant will have to execute surgical procedures in mice for implantation of telemetry probes for blood pressure recording and implantation of ALZET mini-osmotic pumps as well. Besides, the postdoctoral fellow will perform: 1) cardiovascular variability analysis (blood pressure and heart rate) in the time and frequency (spectral analysis) domains and also application of nonlinear methods (sample entropy, multiscale entropy and DFA); 2) assessment of spontaneous baroreflex sensitivity by means of the sequence method; 3) induction of sepsis by the surgical procedure of cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) or LPS administration; 4) Measurement of plasma and tissue cytokines using Elisa.
