Abstract

The regeneration of periodontal tissues lost through periodontal disease has been sought through biological solutions since the current therapeutic alternatives available are not completely predictable and satisfactory. Periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs) are able to differentiate into cementoblasts/osteoblasts, adipocytes and collagen-forming cells, contributing to periodontal tissue regeneration. This way, cellsheets have attracted extensive attention for their repair/regeneration properties of periodontal defects because they are capable of allowing osteoblastic proliferation and supporting the formation of mineralized matrix. Recently, our group has observed that activation of the protease-activated receptor type 1 (PAR1) is able to increase the osteogenic activity of the PDLSCs. The purpose of the present study is to evaluate the osteogenic potential of cell membranes of PDLSCs carried with the activating peptide of PAR1 in vivo.
