Obesity is a pandemic characterized by chronic inflammation and negativeimpact throughout the body. Thus, research has sought alternatives to controland / or minimize the effects of this disease and its comorbidities, such as theuse of functional foods. The tucumã-da-Amazônia (Astrocaryum aculeatum) is anative fruit of the Amazon region with little explored agroeconomic and biologicalpotential. Research shows that the fruit has many bioactive compounds, whichhave a recognized antioxidant, antiobesogenic, hypoglycemic and hypolipidemicaction. Therefore, the study of the application of this fruit in the control of obesityand its associated diseases is timely. This way, the scope of this work will be toevaluate the ability of the tucumã-da-Amazônia (Astrocaryum aculeatum) in theprevention of pathophysiological events related to glycemic and lipidemic control. For this, the fruits will be subjected to lyophilization, and will then have themacronutrients evaluated. The freeze-dried tucumã-da-Amazônia shell will beincorporated into the normolipid and hyperlipidic diets for biological assay in mice. The following parameters will be evaluated: lipidemia, fasting and postprandialglycemia, glucose sensitivity assessment, insulin sensitivity assessment andinsulin resistance.
