This project for a research internship abroad aims at expanding an ongoing Masters' investigation carried out in São Paulo about the relations between cinema, the automobile and the city in Rio de Janeiro. We believe that the period we intend to spend (form September 1st 2018 to February 28th 2019) at Universidad de Buenos Aires would represent a qualitative contribution for our research, which would continue to be carried out after our return for the 5 following months in Brazil. The objectives of our proposal can be summarized in the following way: to expand the historical research and the theoretical debate on the relations between cinema, the automobile and the city; to conduct research of Argentinean filmic and documental archives in order to get in contact with historical material regarding the researched themes - this would allow us to trace a comparative analysis; to get in contact with foreign researchers and students by participating in study groups and other activities related to early cinema in Latin America.
