Abstract

Among the different metallic nanoparticles currently available, the present project highlights silver nanoparticles (AgNP). These have properties dependent on their size and morphology, thus allowing their customization and optimization. However, the synthetic methodologies currently applied are not very effective and/or use toxic agents, making their biomedical use unfeasible. In this scenario, syntheses using electromagnetic radiation emerge as an alternative given the great control over the applied energy dose. Thus, the present project aims to synthesize, in a polymeric matrix - Pluronics®, AgNPs with morphologies controlled by dose modulation and visible light energy applied in the photoexcitation of photosensitizing molecules (PS), which will serve as catalysts for the formation of AgNP. The synthesis will be performed in aqueous medium and at room temperature using polychromatic light (LED) as the source of irradiation. Different FS, light sources and concentration of the polymer matrix will be used. AgNP/PS nano hybrids formed will have characterized morphology (size, shape and crystallinity) and photophysics. The optimization of a well-defined size and morphology with low polydispersity for AgNPs and their synergistic interaction with different FSs will be the guiding questions.
