Abstract

Introduction: The stroke is one of the main causes of morbity and mortality in the world, being a disease of difficult treatment and recovery. This illness can be associated with ambient factors, such as air pollution, humidity and temperature. Thus, is important to study these possible associations, even in situations of climates changes, like the occurred facts of São Paulo city, Brazil. Objective: Analyze the association between ambient temperature, humidity and air pollution with the incidence of hospital admissions for Stroke of São Paulo, Brazil. Methods: It is an observational Ecological study, perfomed by secundary data collection in the city of São Paulo in the year 2016. The definition of Stroke will be according to the tenth revision of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD10) codes: I60, I61, I63 and I64. The data on the incidence of hospital admissions for stroke will be obtained through the Hospital Information System of the Unified Health System (SIH-SUS) by the DATASUS website. Data on air pollution, air humidity and ambient temperature will be collected by CETESB. A descriptive analysis of the data will be performed. To analyze the association between exposure to pollutants and the incidence of hospital admissions for stroke in the city of São Paulo, the Pearson and Spearman correlation test will be used. The level of significance will be 5% and the statistical program used will be Stata version 13.0®.
