This is an application project for a research grant at the Freie Universität Berlin under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Georg Witte that aims at further developing the ongoing postdoc research project "L. S. Vygotsky's Critique: Between Aesthetics, Publicistic and Psychology" (FAPESP 2015/17830-1). During the period of twelve months, I expect to profit from the archives of the Freie Universität library and the Staatsbibliothek in Berlin to enhance the sources for the research and find updated and constructive interlocution to this project. So far, most of the translation work has been done and some of the bibliography selected. Seeing that almost the entirety of the material required for the study is of foreign provenance, during this period abroad I intend to explore archives and establish connections with German slavists. The uncovering of Vygotsky's early writings has proved to be an increasingly seminal and growing area in psychological and cultural studies internationally, as it can be seen by the recent publication of the first volume of his complete works and a selection of his notebooks, with remarkable efforts of several scholars in the world. The intended corpus, of which this project will provide the first Portuguese translation (and one of the first in any language), reveals little explored aspects of Vygotsky's production and thought. The translations along with the critical commentary will offer a relevant contribution both to Slavic studies, especially on Russian culture and literature, as well as to vygotskian studies, particularly in elucidating little known moments of his oeuvre.
