Physics beyond the Standard Model (SM) may lie beyond the TeV scale and be typically probed by the LHC, or may be light and very weakly coupled to the SM, forming then a ``dark sector'' possibly modifying gravity at long distance. This research project proposes directions covering both paradigms. We will explore the possibility that the dark sector be a conformal field theory (CFT) broken in the IR. This model has a dual realization in AdS space. We will also develop a double holography formalism that may have interesting consequences to further understand the emergence of poles from a CFT. This holographic dark sector model also provides UV-completion to modified gravity theories and features an elegant extradimensional chameleon mechanism. Hence we will also develop the idea of chameleon supersymmetry breaking, where supersymmetry is broken only in regions of high matter density like the Earth, which may be a solution to the cosmological constant problem. AdS space has been used to solve the hierarchy problem by Randall and Sundrum. Following this intuition we will explore the possibility of explaining the electroweak hierarchy problem using warping in field space, from a nearly-hyperbolic scalar manifold. The conformal dark sector may require new probes to be detected. Hence we plan to study the synergy between the proposed FASER detector and the existing forward proton detectors recently installed at the LHC. | |
