The project´s overall objective is to investigate the occurrence of the mobilization of law as a resource used by working class entities in the face of business strategies of restructuring of production. The research intends to glimpse if in a historical context in which there are, simultaneously, the resurgence of the economic and political power of corporations, the cooling of the trade union and the consolidation of constitutional guarantees to social demands, the law appears as an instrument of combating against the deterioration of work conditions. In a specific way, the probationary period in the CES of University of Coimbra, to which deals this application for fellowship, accomplishes the following purposes: 1) prospection of information about the Portuguese and European experience in what refers to above-mentioned issue, through systematic production survey in thesis and investigation reports in this center of studies; 2) technical improvement about discussions that contemplate the world of work, as well as the role exerted by law in possible emancipating processes involving subordinates social groups - through participation in seminars of post-graduation, as well as centers and observatories of CES. This purpose is expected to obtain subsidies for the advance of reflection about interactions between class movements and legal system in contemporary democracies, especially in terms of its forms of action in the advanced capitalism and peripheral capitalism, beyond the closing ties for the scientific cooperation.
