The female protagonism in the struggle for land in quilombola communities at Alto Acará/PA

Abstract

Starting from the assumption of the relevance about the quilombola agrarian universe in the current Amazonian agricultural reality, and above all, highlighting the role of the peasant quilombola woman, the general objective of this research is to analyze the role of the quilombola woman in the construction and strengthening of the struggle of the Remaining Quilombola Residents and Farmers from Alto Acará Association (AMARQUALTA) as a form of resistance to the domination and advancement of the agribusiness monoproduction of palm oil at Alto Acará/PA. The methodological procedures to be used go through the bibliographic, statistical and documentary surveys to strengthen the theoretical construction of concepts used here, as well as reflect on the issue addressing the processes and the dynamics that brought the agribusiness of palm oil into the Amazon and how the original population - especially the women reality - articulate and resist by this advance. Also we will perform a survey regarding the research of Professor Brian Garvey (University of Strathclyde, Glasgow) about studies and discussion tools of his qualitative research method in a feminist approach. Corroborating this, we want to give voice to the issues of women's role in peasant struggles, taking into consideration the work carried out by the researcher in Glasgow and other empirical bases in Latin America.
