Abstract

The focus of the project is an effective field theory of quantum chromodynamics to treat hadronic phenomena at moderate energies. The effective theory is constructed on the basis of the phenomenon of dynamical chiral symmetry breaking (DCSB), its degrees of freedom are constituent quarks and gluons and pions, and its Lagrangian is constructed treating the number of color charges N_c as large. The constituent quarks and pions are effective degrees of freedom emerging from DCSB, and the constituent gluons emerge from the same strong interactions that lead to DCSB. The projects consists in calculating hadronic correlation functions formed by a constituent quark-antiquark pair with the quantum numbers of the pion. The objective of the calculation is to obtain the masses of those states and investigate whether they are bound states. The calculation will clarify issues related possible double counting of pionic degrees of freedom in this effective theory. (AU)
